Concert marking 20 years of the Belgrade Wind Orchestra

On the occasion of twenty years of the Belgrade Wind Orchestra, tonight in the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club a concert was held. The Belgrade Wind Orchestra was founded in 1995 with the aim to encourage and promote creativity and performing art for wind instruments and ensembles, as well as to contribute to the renewal of the tradition of promenade concerts in the halls and in the open.

In his opening address, the host of the programme, Dejan Djurovic said:

- Today, when this unique ensemble marks the twenty-year anniversary of existence in the cultural scene in Belgrade and Serbia, a festive concert is organized in the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club. There is some symbolism in that. While military and civic orchestras existed in other European countries, the first orchestra of this type in Serbia was founded in Kragujevac in 1831 by Prince Milos Obrenovic. This was the Military Brass Band.

Tonight's repertoire included works by Alfred Reed, Manuel De Falla, Dmitri Shostakovich, Emil Glavnik, Petar Konjovic, Bozidar Boki Milosevic, Leonard Bernstein ... They were performed by the Orchestra and soloists: Aleksandar Bencic (trombone), Aleksandar Sarovic (tenor saxophone ), Nevena Djordjevic (marimba), Goran Stojanovic (clarinet), Dusko Trnavac (clarinet), under the baton of Vladimir Mustajbasic and Aleksandar Djurov.
