Annual awards of Media Centre Odbrana
Media Centre Odbrana traditionally, on the occasion of 24 January, Day of the institution, awarded journalism prize "Ivan Markovic" and chose the best athlete and sports team of the Serbian Armed Forces in the past year.
After the review and evaluation of submitted works, the jury for the award of Journalist Award "Ivan Markovic" decided to present the award for reporting on the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in 2015 to docent of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad Dr Vladimir Barovic, for his report "Guardians of the Pannonian Peace" published in the "New Magazine".
Explaining the decision, the jury pointed out that the author used "modern reporter language to explain the position of the Riverine Flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces and vividly presented to readers its members and their duties," and that he "credibly proved the necessity of the Flotilla and its role in peacetime and wartime, emphasizing the existence of dangerous substances in our rivers from past wars and the necessity of their discovery."
Chairman of the Jury for the Journalist Award was editor and commentator of "Politika" Ljubodrag Stojadinovic and the members Marko Petkovic, last year's winner and journalist of "Tanjug", Corvette Captain Jovan Krivokapic and Sanja Savic from the Public Relations Department with Dragan aMarkovic, representative of Media Centre Odbrana.
For the most successful athlete of the Serbian Armed Forces in 2015, the jury chose an athlete, sprinter in the 200 and 400metersdisciplines Stefan Vukadinovic, with 147.7 points, who in the past year achieved very good results.
"He won the championship of the Serbian Armed Forces, and at the 6th World Military Games in South Korea (from 1 to 12 October 2015), in 400m discipline, he took 22nd place in the competition of 52 competitors. In the Championship of Serbia for seniors (in 400m discipline), in the competition of 30 competitors, he won the first place, based on which he has been ranked in the national class of Serbian athletes, while at the same competition in the 200m discipline he came in second.
The award for the best sports team was presented to the team of the Tank Combined Event (15 points), which in 2015 won third place in the competition of 16 teams at the international competition in Russia. The jury, chaired by Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Todorov, Head of the Section of Military Sports of the Military Academy, along with members - Senior Sergeant Goran Cegar (MA HR MO), Lieutenant Colonel Danilo Simonovic from the Department of Training and Doctrine Command, Dragan Sesum, representative of the Serbian Sports Association, and Captain Aleksandar Petrovic from the Public Relations Department, announced that during the evaluation they had taken into account the ratio of the placement and the number of opponents in the competition, the coefficient of the sporting event in which the result was achieved, and the coefficient for team sports.
Winners will be presented with the awards at the ceremony on the occasion of the Media Centre Odbrana on Monday, 25 January, in the Central Military Club in Belgrade.
