National Museum in Belgrade awarded Letters of Appreciation to the Ministry of Defence
In the pleasant ambience of Princess Ljubica’s Residence today a ceremony has been held to commemorate the 172nd anniversary of the National Museum in Belgrade. The director of the oldest and the most important museum in Serbia, Dr Bojana Boric Breskovic, reminded many guests of the development path of this institution; the results achieved in the past year and the plans for the future, putting priority on the continuation of the restoration of the main building of the museum in the city centre, at Square of the Republic.
On this occasion, letters of appreciation were presented to donors who contributed to the growth and development of the museum collections in the years behind us, as well as to the institutions and individuals with whom the National Museum had a successful cooperation.On behalf of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, and for the support and successful cooperation in the realisation of the project of rehabilitation and renovation of the National Museum, the letter of gratitude was received by Radmila Jagodic, Acting Assistant Minister for Budget and Finance.
The letter of appreciation for assistance in the implementation of the programme of the largest national art treasure and exceptional hospitality was conferred to Colonel Stevica S. Karapandzin, director of Odbrana Media Centre. Directors of both institutions stressed as significant the fact that the exhibitions that were displayed in the Gallery of the Central Military Club - "When the women became citizens" and "Nadezda Petrovic - 100 years of the right to eternal memory", which in 45 days was seen by more than 21,000 visitors.After awarding the letters of appreciation and plaques to the associates and employees of the museum that marked 10 and 20 years of work, guests were invited to a cocktail reception and tour of the exhibition of the works of painter Dimitrije Avramovic from the collection of the National Museum.
