Promotion of the book "Momcilo Gavric – the youngest corporal in the world"
"Few people among the aged, middle-aged, and especially young Serbs know Momcilo Gavric, the youngest corporal in the world, a boy who became a soldier in the First World War at his age of eight, and then the holder of the Albanian memorial." These words are at the beginning of the book about Momcilo Gavric by Dr Branislav Goldner, which was promoted today in the Atrium of the Central Military Club.
The writer and reviewer of the edition, Dr Miodrag Ignjatovic, assessed as successful the author's aspiration to revive the memory of the eight-year-old hero of one terrible war for the Serbs and to make the memory so human through layers.
As a literary character, Momcilo Gavric quickly won over the sympathy of readers, because it is easy to sympathize with the boy who lost his family overnight and was left to himself in the war.
The novel was also presented by a retired Colonel Ljubomir Markovic, a retired General Milisav Sekulic and the author who read a passage from the book for the audience.
