The promotion was attended by Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, members of the Nis garrison units and representatives of veterans' associations and associations of military pensioners.
Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, welcoming the participants in the promotion event, expressed the belief that the book will contribute to a sense of pride among members of the military because of their religion, nation and flag.
Director of Odbrana Media Centre, Colonel Stevica Karapandzin, pointed out in his address that what he wanted with this book was to contribute to a positive impact on improving the operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces and encourage many, so that we as a people grow at the foundations which are set by St. Sava and St. Simeon. The book, according to Colonel Karapandzin, is dedicated to commanders of units at operational and tactical levels, as well as the chaplains, who in this book can observe how the chaplains can participate in the planning and execution of operations of the Army. The value of the book is in the historical presentation of the development of religious service in the Serbian army, in which segments of the religious service in the Serbian army during the First World War are particularly distinguished as well as less known facts about religious service in partisan units during the Second World War. Special attention in the book was given to relation of the church and modern armies in the world and the development of religious services in modern armies.
At the promotion of the book, the book reviewer and Head of the Operation Department at the National Defence School, Colonel Rade Slavkovic, PhD, talked about the importance and role of chaplains in the commands and units of the Serbian Armed Forces and possible impacts of the newly established religious services during the operations of the Army. The book draws attention to a wide range of possible positive impact of religious services on the overall military strength of the Serbian Armed Forces and all other segments of the military profession – Colonel Slavkovic said.
Head of the Department for Publishing Activities and editor of the book, Dragana Markovic, reflected on the publishing activities of Odbrana Media Centre and stressed that Colonel Stevica Karapandzin, before he had come at the head of Odbrana Media Centre, was one of the key figures in the establishment of a religious service in the Serbian Armed Forces and therefore it is not surprising that he is the author of the first comprehensive study that fills some blanks in completing this very important segment of the combat power of the Serbian Armed Forces.
